If you’re planning to buy a horse and need a little guidance, horse specialist Kathy Anderson of the University of Nebraska offers some helpful tips and things to look for. She stresses the importance of visiting the horse in a show environment as well as at the barn where he or she is housed, and observing the horse’s manners and demeanor. Also important is watching as the horse goes through the whole grooming and saddling procedure and observing how they behave. Kathy also demonstrates how to inspect the horse’s condition and look for red flags, such as leg injuries, scars, etc. Whether this is your first horse, or you’ve owned and/or ridden horses before, this short video will give you some great insights to help make your next horse purchase a successful one.
